Privacy Policy
Patchwork ("we", "us") is a personal news reader operated at patchwork.buzz. This policy explains what information we collect from you and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and a hashed (never plaintext) password.
- Reading data: the sources and groups you add, and your read/starred state for each entry.
- Settings: your time zone, used to compute your daily view.
- Push notification subscriptions: if you enable browser notifications, we store the subscription endpoint your browser gives us so we can deliver them. No push data is shared with third parties other than the browser vendor's own push service.
- Technical logs: standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) kept briefly for security and debugging, and error reports sent to our error-tracking provider when something breaks.
How we use it
We use your information only to operate Patchwork: authenticating you, fetching and displaying the sources you subscribe to, sending you account emails (confirmation, password reset), and delivering the notifications you opt into. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of third parties to run Patchwork:
- Railway — hosting and database infrastructure.
- Resend — delivery of transactional emails (confirmation, password reset).
- Cloudflare Turnstile — bot protection on the sign-up form. Cloudflare receives your browser's interaction with the Turnstile widget when you register.
- Honeybadger — error tracking, so we can find and fix bugs. Error reports may include request metadata but we take care not to log passwords or full page content.
Each of these providers processes data only on our behalf and under their own privacy and security commitments.
Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. It contains a signed, opaque session identifier — no tracking or advertising cookies are set.
Data retention
We keep your account and reading data for as long as your account is active. Read, unstarred entries are periodically cleaned up on our end regardless of account status, since they're shared, cached content rather than something personal to you.
Your rights
You can review and update your settings at any time from within the app. To request a copy of your data, or to have your account and associated data deleted, email us at privacy@rgopeko.resend.app from the address on your account. We'll action the request within 30 days.
Children
Patchwork is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
